Message from Lord Puttnam for 'Teacherworld'

"We have to do everything in our power to foster a culturally diverse teaching profession in this country. Teachers are the key to providing access to life chances for children from all backgrounds. They act as role models to young people and as such should reflect the diversity of children's' cultural heritages. There is already a cohort of teachers from minority ethnic communities doing some ground-breaking work improving the achievement of children in schools, 'Teacherworld' is unique in that it enables them to share this good practice and encourage others who may be thinking about a career in teaching. Failure to increase the diversity of the teaching force will have very serious social consequences." -
